Description The online NEBOSH General Certificate is a must for anyone that is serious about wanting to gain a strong knowledge about health and safety. The course is broken down into two sections, the first section focusing on managerial issues such as UK based legislation, safety management systems, risk assessments etc. and the second part looking into hazards and control measures such as manual handling, fire, electricity, hazardous substances and more. Standard of English
An adequate understanding of the English language is required by students to such degree that they can both understand and articulate the key concepts contained within the course syllabus.

NEBOSH Exams and how you’re assessed
Examinable Units
There are 3 major course units (NGC1, GC2 & GC3) to successfully complete before you become fully certified with the NEBOSH National General Certificate qualification.

Exam Venue
The examinations are held 4 times each year and are to be taken at a registered NEBOSH examination centre. Additional sitting fees may be applicable based on the exam centre venue.

Exam Schedule
The examinations are scheduled on NEBOSH standard examination dates in the months of March/June/September/December.

Written Exam
Examinations comprise of two 2-hour written papers for each of the core unit modules. For each of the written papers (NGC1 + GC2) the exam questioning format consists of 1 long answer question and 10 short answer questions – all of which you should attempt to gain maximum marks.

Practical Exam
Additionally, students must complete a practical inspection report assessment for unit GC3. The practical paper GC3 consists of carrying out a risk assessment of a workplace and preparing a short report.

How your papers are marked
The core Unit exam papers will be marked by approved NEBOSH examiners that provide basic feedback and an overall grade. You need to gain a minimum passing grade of 45 out of 100 marks for each of the core Unit exam papers. The GC3 practical assessment is graded by your assigned SHEilds tutor and a passing mark of 60 out of 100 is required.
NOTE: Only students who have enrolled with NEBOSH through an accredited NEBOSH training centre are eligible to register for the examination.

Who should attend There are no prerequisite entry requirements for this NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety qualification. Although students will find it helpful to have already achieved certification of a NEBOSH Award level qualification first as this greatly improves a students’ potential end-result.

This NEBOSH course is focused around general health & safety issues found in the workplace. NEBOSH general certificate courses are suitable for managers and supervisors or other employee representatives and covers the primary legal requirements for health and safety as laid out in UK legislation and best practices for managing health and safety in the workplace.
